My Butterfly Alert is a personalized sightings report. This feature pools the sightings of other mybutterflywatcher members' trip lists* and builds a customized report for you based on your interests and geographical preference. Essentially a custom version of mybutterflywatcher's Sightings Search, you can use this feature when planning butterflying trips both near and far.
Here's an example of how My Butterfly Alert works: suppose you live in New York and are willing to travel to neighboring states in a moments notice to see a Great Purple Hairstreak seen in NJ. You may set up your Butterfly Alert Profile to view any recent sighting reports of a rare visit of a Great Purple Hairstreaks by members in NJ. When you log onto mybutterflywatcher and click on My Butterfly Alert, you will see if and when a Great Purple Hairstreak was reported in your selected region.
Use the Butterfly Alert Profile section to set up your personal Butterfly Alert.
* Applies to only those members who have opted to share their butterfly sightings. You can change this option within Edit My Profile.
