In this area, you can see what butterflies are being reported by other members in different geographic regions of the U.S. and Canada.
Here's an example of how this feature works:
A mybutterflywatcher member from New York sees hundreds of migrating Monarchs while on a field trip. He then reports his sighting to his personal field trip database, the My Field Trip section. His sighting is automatically entered in the Butterfly Search database*.
Another mybutterflywatcher member is curious to find out if Monarchs are yet migrating in her area and does a search for sightings of Monarchs. The Monarchs sighting from the previous user (the New York member) would appear in the Butterfly Search results.
The Butterfly Search can also be customized to tell you when your favorite butterflies are seen in the specific geographic areas that you choose. Check out My Butterfly Alert page to see how.
